A downloadable game for Android

Psychography is a fast-paced 30 second drawing game with a twist. After an attempt to contact a ghost using a ouija board, you and your fellow players are trapped in the session by a mute ghost who only communicates through drawings. Navigate your way through a seance gone wrong and race to be the first person to escape the board. But be careful, one wrong move and you just might make the ghost upset! Possession can make a person do very strange things...

Rules

  1. The player who most recently experienced something paranormal goes first, or if all players are boring (or don’t believe in ghosts), the youngest player will begin the game.
  2. Each turn, the current player will select a drawing prompt from one of three difficulties and begin to draw on their whiteboard with their eyes closed (or blindfolded) within the set time limit. (see Gamemodes for detailed drawing round instructions)
  3. If the player’s drawing is guessed correctly within the time limit, they along with the player who guessed correctly will move the corresponding amount of spaces on the board based on the difficulty of prompt the active player selected.
  4. The spaces allocated to each difficulty are as follows;
  • Easy = 1 Space
  • Medium = 2 Spaces
  • Hard = 3 Spaces
  1. If the active player has landed on either a possession or exorcism space rather than a blank space, they do not select a prompt and instead must draw the corresponding card before allowing the next player to begin their turn.
  2. Player rotation continues clockwise after the first person has completed their turn and the drawing round begins again.
  3. The first player to make it to the end of the board to the Goodbye space and successfully end the session wins.

As Psychography is a drawing game, writing is discouraged but if you’re struggling to get some good guesses on your prompt, you can write clues relating to your drawing (with your eyes closed, still!) to help the other players get an idea of what your masterpiece is. But be aware, writing the exact wording of your prompt is forbidden.

Possession and Exorcism Cards

As if being stuck with a ghost wasn’t bad enough, there’s still more danger to look out for as you make your way through the board. Spaces on the board marked with a ghost icon with horns are known as Possession Spaces. If the active player lands on one of these spaces, they must draw a possession card and suffer from its consequences.  However, there are also Exorcism Spaces spread throughout the board, marked with a ghost wearing a halo. These cards offer several benefits and game-changing advantages to the lucky player who draws one but be aware, those who actively seek to land on these spaces with the intent to pull one of these mysterious cards may not get what they ask for..

Gamemodes

Psychography features two modes of play, Banshee Mode and Phantom Mode. Depending on the style of game the players wish to play, they can choose one of the two mentioned gamemodes.

Banshee Mode - The active player draws their prompt in 30 seconds with their eyes closed. During this time, the other players can shout out their guesses as the active player draws in order to try and guess correctly. The first player to shout out the correct answer wins the round, and moves the same number of spaces as the player who drew the prompt.

When making guesses, players must wait until someone else has made a guess after they have shouted out to prevent players from constantly guessing until they get the right answer- making it fair for everyone.

Phantom Mode - The active player draws their prompt in 15 seconds with their eyes closed. During the 15 seconds, the other players must write a guess on their whiteboard, hiding their answers from each other. When the time is up, all players must stop guessing and show their answer to everyone by revealing their whiteboards at the same time. If a player has made a correct guess, they win the round alongside the active player and they both move along the board. If two players guess the same, a winner can be decided via rock, paper, scissors. If three or more players guess correctly, they all move one space along the board no matter the difficulty of the active player’s prompt.
